The pain

The current model limits to one repository per user, complicating multi-repo management, organizational sharing, and segmented billing.

Who'd pay

Software development teams, organizations with multiple repositories, and companies needing segmented per-project billing.

Signal that triggered it

"This issue tracks the upgrade path when: - A user wants to work with >1 repo simultaneously, OR - Org-level sharing is added (multiple users in one project), OR - A user-story emerges that requires per-repo billing / per-repo usage segmentation."

review: migrate conversations scoping to first-class projects table (post-MVP)

Published: 2 days ago

Repository: jikig-ai/soleur Author: deruelle Summary Migrate `conversations` scoping from a stringly-typed `repo_url` column to a first-class `projects` table (or at minimum `repo_id` FK to a projects/workspaces entity) once the product model supports multi-repo-per-user. Background Current product state is 1:1 user↔repo, so `repo_url` as a natural key is adequate. However, data-integrity reviewer flagged that future URL normalization or in-place `users.repo_url` edits could desync `conversations.repo_url`. Upgrade planned when supporting >1 repo simultaneously, org-level sharing, or per-repo billing/usage segmentation. Proposed Fix Create new `projects` table with key fields, backfill data, update `conversations` references, and eventually drop `repo_url` column. Scope-Out Justification Architectural pivot affecting billing, API usage tracking, RLS posture, repo contracts, and `users.repo_url` field, requiring dedicated planning cycle. Re-evaluation Criteria Product decision to support multiple repos per user, org-level sharing feature, or per-project billing/usage.
